With condo space being so limited, breakfast bar stools are a perfect seating solution. Plus, folding bar stools are widely available, these can be neatly tucked away when not in use, and then carried out when additional seating is required.

Since condo space comes at a high premium, the key to decorating a condo is to achieve an open, uncluttered look while providing for the essentials of daily living. On ingenious technique to achieve this is to install a breakfast bar instead of a full-sized dining table. It will prove to be very useful while working in the kitchen, and depending on the design, it serves as tasteful boundary between the kitchen and the living room area.

If the condo space is very small, the breakfast bar can actually double as the entertaining area. Just be sure to choose the right bar stools so that guests can sit on them for any length of time without being too uncomfortable. It’s also a good idea to have some folding bar stools on hand to easily provide extra seating when needed.

The most important thing to do before actually going out shopping for bar stools is to measure the height of your breakfast counter. That will determine the height of the bar stools you need to get to ensure seating comfort. Ideally, there should be about 230- 330 mm of difference between the surface of the breakfast bar and the height of the stool seat. This ensures that when seated, your body is sufficiently elevated at the right height in relation to the bar surface but it isn’t so high as to require you to hunch your back to eat off the bar properly.

Once you find bar stools of the right height, you can then let your taste be your guide. Choose what you think is comfortable and attractive, of a design that will enhance rather than detract from the appearance of your condo.
