Choices In Buffet Furniture
A formal dining room is not completely dressed without some form of buffet furniture. The number of family members and the size of the room itself, should determine the style and size of the dining room furniture. It should also be a reflection of the type of gatherings held there. If a growing family occupies the home, a rectangular classic style dining room set will suffice. If it is the home of empty nesters there is no need for eight place settings unless the family gathers there for holidays. In this example, a round table service for four may be a better choice.
Smaller dining rooms may be dressed as formal as a larger dining rooms. A round table may be chosen in a light gray or beige. Hand carvings and other intricate accents will add elegance. Table settings including chargers and centerpieces will give it a formal touch. For the added formal touch, any one of the following could be the talking point of even a small dining room.
° Sideboards
° Hutches
° Buffets
° Bombay chests

These are several forms of buffet furniture. They can be used for extra storage to save trips back and forth to the kitchen while entertaining. They are perfect for storing cutlery and dishes for special occasions and they all have space on top for displaying favorite accents.
Even if there is not a separate formal dining room in the home, a piece of buffet furniture will add that special touch to any eat-in kitchen as well. Hallways and bedrooms serve as secondary choices. A bombay chest is a popular hallway choice, but will look and serve just as well in the dining room. Hutches generally have display shelving features. However the eating area is decorated, it should be the gathering place for good food, family, friends, and laughter.
