How a Little Home and Apartment Design Goes a Long Way
I started my blog Storage Artist because I was tired of seeing people live in small spaces and think there was no way they could make more room for themselves. It’s easy to feel limited by an apartment that’s only a few hundred square feet – which means you need to really use your noodle and beat that feeling. I find the best way to do this is by using decorative storage containers to increase the amount of storage space you have in your house, while simultaneously adding to the décor and design of the apartment on the whole.
Let’s look at an example. Picture a bland studio apartment. Now imagine putting an antique trunk in it. This would seem a little out of place of course, so we’ll need to get a couple other decorations that match the theme – paintings that use the same neutral colors of a trunk, or even furniture that complements it. Now you have a living room with a definite point of view, and you have an entire trunk you can fill with anything you want. You’ve gotten the best of both worlds, and people are going to complement you on your trunk – the one that just emptied out two shelves of your bookcase!
The same works in the bathroom. Picture a bathroom with a blue colored theme to it. Now let’s take a wicker basket – the brown will match the blue – and set it right next to the toilet. Fill it with toiletries, some toilet paper, extra soap and shampoo, or whatever you want. It’s going to look great – a regular bathroom bouquet that will get people thinking about how creative you are, and not at all caring that you’re actually using it to empty out the tiny bathroom closet a bit.
This is how decorative storage boxes will save the look of your apartment. Complaining about lack of space is lazy. Get proactive, and apply a little home design!
