A round kitchen table fits in well with all kinds of interior design schemes, ranging from an informal cheap round kitchen table to a classy dining room table. A great feature of circular furniture is the lack of corners, which makes them safer for children, and provides for more even seating.

The first thing to think about when you are shopping around is how many people you will need to seat. Four to six people can sit comfortably at a four foot table, but to seat eight you will need at least a five foot. Six foot is needed in order to seat ten.

You will need to have at least three feet of space between any walls and the furniture. Obviously, you won’t buy anything that won’t fit in your home, but laying string or masking tape on the floor will help you in determining the maximum size your room can handle. Rearrange your furniture if you must, but make sure that the size you buy will not just fit in your dining room but allow you enough room to sit at it as well. For example, a five foot table needs at least eleven feet of space in all directions to work optimally.

Decide if you want a pedestal style or a design with four legs. Pedestal styles are easier to vacuum under and look nicer according to some, but they can also be more expensive as well, depending on how intricate the design is or what quality materials are used.

Consider what accessories you might want to buy, such as a protective cover, especially if you have children. A lazy Susan is a great idea for a round table since it makes it easy to pass food from one person to another even if they are on the other side of the table.

Consider what type of finish will go best with your home. A round oak dining table doesn’t look the same as a pine one. The darkness of the wood will have an effect on its appearance and mood, so take this into consideration.
